Showcase 6: Kerim Seiler
Text by Leopold Weinberg
Spending time with Kerim is always a colorful delight. He has a very energetic character, usually a clear, reflective attitude, and an infectious sense of humor. A charismatic globetrotter who thinks outside the box. His works are no exception: whether vibrant neon pieces, humorous sculptures, or grand public installations, they all reflect Kerim's personality. We are thrilled to present this very diversity in the current exhibition, which manifests not only in the various media used by the artist.
About
Kerim Seiler (*1974 in Bern) is known for his dynamic, site-specific works in the fields of installation, sculpture, performance, and printmaking. He operates at the intersection of art, science, and pop culture. While his early works focused on life-sized paintings of urban objects, he now concentrates on large-scale spatial and light installations in urban contexts.
Seiler gained international attention with works such as What, if, created for the opening of the Gotthard Base Tunnel, and the performance series Space is my Canvas, which was also presented at the Venice Biennale. Another highlight is the 250-meter-long neon light installation at Zurich's main railway station, which was on display for over 10 years. His works are often interactive, like the Come Together project at the Locarno Film Festival.
